CPAs to Discuss Data Interchange at City Conference

Electronic Data Interchange is the focus of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants third annual Members in Industry Conference scheduled Sept. 18 at the Marriott Hotel, 3233 Northwest Expressway.

A definition of electronic data interchange is computer-tomputer linkage between companies (and-or banks) for the purpose of eliminating paper transactions. The linkage may be for a variety of purposes, ranging from paying accounts payable and collecting accounts receivable without checks, to allowing a customer to place orders directly into a supplier's computer.

Electronic data interchange includes electronic funds transfer, inventory and production management, inventory and production management, scheduling, purchasing, labor reporting, bar coding and bills of lading.

The conference will feature four minissions which include: EDI Overview; EDI Value Added Networks; Electronic Payment and Collection Systems; and Bar Coding.

"We are really fortunate to have one of the top EDI people in the world as our main speaker," said Ray Belford, CPA, Oklahoma Society of CPAs' conference chairman.
