Futures Prices Slip for Oil, Natural Gas

NEW YORK (AP) _ Oil prices finished slightly lower Thursday after a volatile session that saw prices swing back and forth as a meeting of oil ministers from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries drew to a close.

Light sweet crude oil for delivery in October settled at $22.30 per barrel, down 9 cents, at the New York Mercantile Exchange. It had fallen as low as $22.05 during the day and went no higher than $22.38. Lowerade sour crude for delivery in October settled at $19.70 per barrel, down 9 cents.

In London, North Sea Brent Blend crude oil for delivery in November settled at $20.45 per barrel, down 18 cents, at the International Petroleum Exchange.

Natural gas prices were lower on the New York Stock Exchange, with contracts for delivery in October settling at $2.231 per 1,000 cubic feet, down 3.8 cents.

Unleaded gasoline for delivery in October settled at 60.30 cents a gallon, down 0.59 cents. Home heating oil for delivery in October settled at 62. …
