NEW YORK (AP) _ Energy prices moved slightly lower Friday in light trading, with a cold weather forecast and a call to embargo Libyan oil injecting mild volatility in the market.

Oil prices were on the verge of falling below the $20 per barrel level in technical trading when 10 senators released a letter to President Bush urging him to press the United Nations to embargo Libyan oil.

Light sweet crude oil for delivery in December settled at $20.08 per barrel, down 13 cents, at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Lower-grade sour crude for delivery in December settled at $18.03 per barrel, down 13 cents.

In London, North Sea Brent Blend crude oil for delivery in December settled at $19.01 per barrel, down 13 cents, at the International Petroleum Exchange.

Natural gas prices sagged as well on the New York Mercantile Exchange, with contracts for delivery in December settling at $2.423 per 1,000 cubic feet, down 2 cents.
