Midwest National Bank Completes Harrah Merger

Midwest National Bank of Midwest City completed its merger with its sister bank, the National Bank of Harrah, on Thursday, according to its president.

Effective today, the Harrah location will be known as Midwest National Bank, Harrah Office.

"There will be very little change other than the name," said Gerald F. Barnett, president and chief executive officer. "The same people who have always taken care of the bank's customers will continue to serve them in the same friendly and professional manner."

The merger was done to strengthen the capital position of the troubled Harrah location by combining it into the stronger Midwest City bank. The Harrah bank had been included on lists of problem institutions published by independent bank rating organizations, including Bauer Financial Reports Inc. of Coral Gables, Fla.

The tiny bank lost $100,000 for the first nine months of 1992, the latest period for which public figures are available. …
