College to Hire Deaf Education Specialist

Oklahoma City Community College will hire a full-time deaf education specialist to provide support for deaf and hearing impaired students starting this fall. The specialist will focus on helping the students in developmental studies learn skills that they missed in their secondary education. The specialist will also provide students with individualized plans of learning that will help them be more successful in preparing for college-level coursework. Miller-Norris Opens Showroom in Conncourse

Miller-Norris Plants has opened a silk plant showroom in the Conncourse of the BancFirst Building, 101 N. Broadway as an ordering facility for residential and business clients. The showroom will display over 100 types of silk trees, floor plants, vining and flowering greenery. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday, and appointments are welcomed. An open house is scheduled 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Harry McLaughlin is president of Miller-Norris Plants, and Kathy Long is sales manager. Christian Business Expo Scheduled

The Oklahoma City Christian Business Expo is scheduled for Aug. 27-29 in the Made in Oklahoma building at the State Fairgrounds. Exhibitors will include representatives of the automobile, health care, household goods, and business service and supply industries. There will be live Christian music, autograph signings by athletes, food and family entertainment. The expo will be open 5-9 p.m. Aug. 27, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Aug. 28 and 1-6 p.m. Aug. 29. Admission is free. Family Fitness Day Scheduled Aug. 28

Oklahoma Family Fitness Day will be celebrated the morning of Aug. 28 at Will Rogers Park. The event offers fitness activities and information for all family members. Participants may try out a fitness trail, get their health checked by St. Anthony's Hospital staff and see demonstrations and exhibits by local fitness organizations and businesses. …
