Festival of Lights featuring holiday events and a parade to kick off the Christmas season has been moved this year to the Myriad Botanical Gardens near the Myriad Convention Center.

The event is scheduled Friday with events beginning at 5 p.m., the Parade of Lights at 6 p.m. and the program ending with festivities in Bricktown. The 10th annual event is being presented by Downtown Now and Myriad Gardens Conservatory. Deborah Lauren of KWTV Channel 9 is scheduled as the emcee.

"In the past, Downtown Now has focused the event's activities in Kerr Park. The popularity of the event has grown so over the years that we needed to find a larger location. Joining forces with the Myriad Gardens Conservatory and moving the event to the Myriad Botanical Gardens will allow us to expand the event to include more family-oriented activities in the future," said Diane Joy-Sisemore, Downtown Now president.

Major sponsors are City of Oklahoma City, Southwestern Bell Telephone, Fred Jones Companies, City Bank Trust, The Daily Oklahoman, Liberty Bank Trust Co. of Oklahoma City NA, Salvation Army and Bricktown Association. Events are planned to begin at 5 p.m. with Oklahoma Youth Orchestra and Oklahoma Kids performing at the Myriad Gardens' Water Stage. Following those performances, Kerry Robertson, co-host with Jim Buratti of "Discover Oklahoma," is to join the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra for a holiday carol sing-along. …
