Walsh to Speak at Phi Beta Kappa Association

Lawrence E. Walsh, formerly independent counsel for the Iran-Contra investigation, is scheduled to speak on "Independent Counsel and the Rule of Law" at the annual banquet of the Phi Beta Kappa Association on April 28.

Walsh had been a U.S. district judge for the Southern District of New York, deputy attorney general of the United States and president of the American Bar Association before he became the independent counsel for Iran-Contra. In 1969, he was the personal representative of the president to the Vietnam peace talks held in Paris and had the rank of ambassador. He also is trustee emeritus of Columbia University and practices law with Crowe Dunlevy in Oklahoma City.

"We are especially excited to have Judge Walsh as our speaker this year," said Robert McCampbell, president of the Phi Beta Kappa Association. "His experiences in the Iran-Contra investigation will make for a very interesting presentation."

The banquet is open to members of Phi Beta Kappa and their guests. Debra Albright, manager for Equifax Services Inc., will discuss "Educating the Life Insurance Applicant" at the Tuesday meeting of the Life Insurance Company Office Management Association. She has been the manager for Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle for Equifax since August 1993. She joined the company in 1987 as a field investigator and became a claim director in Dallas in 1990 and director of special investigations in 1992. She has developed and published adult education curriculum for the banking industry for the Oklahoma State Department of Vocational Education and is a member of several insurance industry associations. …
