A smoke-free policy will begin Sept. 6 at Crossroads Mall, located at the northeast corner of Interstates 35 and 240. Smoking will be prohibited in the mall's common areas and restrooms. Individual stores and restaurants will establish their own smoking policies.

"With the growing concern of the hazards of secondhand smoke, we felt this step was necessary," said Jim Swenson, mall manager. "A smoke-free environment provides cleaner air for our merchants, customers and their children who visit our mall." State Insurance Fund to Host Conference

The Oklahoma State Insurance Fund will host the 52nd annual conference of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds Aug. 21-25 in Tulsa. Meeting participants will represent the 28 state insurance funds in the United States and Puerto Rico and 12 Canadian insurance boards. Discussions will be held on national public policy issues affecting workers compensation, including health care reform, proposed rating changes and government projects. About 300 participants are expected. Oklahoma last hosted the conference in 1986. IDS to Undergo Name Change Jan. 1

IDS Financial Services, which has offices in Oklahoma City, has announced a name change to American Express Financial Advisors effective Jan. 1. IDS became a division of American Express in 1984. The local office also announced that three of its certified financial planners were named to the company's "gold team," which allows them to provide an expanded scope of services. They were: Kenneth C. Heidenreich, Nancee Thonn and Arlen Williams. Small Business at Breakfast Seminar Set

"The Art of Hiring and Firing" will be the sixth in a series of eight Small Business at Breakfast seminars, scheduled for 7:15-8:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1815 S.
