Article excerpt

The Oklahoma City Art Museum board of directors has hired Carolyn Hill as its museum director effective Monday.

Hill is a native of Oklahoma City who formerly operated a private art gallery in New York City.

Howell said Hill was one of four interviewed since Monday to fill the position. The board approved her appointment after a meeting with her Wednesday night.

Hill has owned and operated Carolyn Hill Fine Art Inc., a gallery operation she founded in New York City, since 1984.

Hill has arranged two major international art shows and brought well-known artists to Oklahoma City since returning from New York City in 1993. She has curated more than 100 international art exhibitions in the past 12 years.

"Besides their great beauty and entertainment value, the arts are essential for our international society," Hill said.
