The Oklahoma City chapter of the Christian Business Men's Committee of USA has named Frank A. McPherson, chairman and chief executive officer of Kerr-McGee Corp., as the first recipient of the "CBMC Salt and Light Award."

The presentation will be made at a 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 dinner at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. Guest speaker will be U.S. Sen. Don Nickles, with entertainment provided by the Ambassador Choir, directed by Kenneth E. Kilgore and the University of Central Oklahoma brass ensemble. Kelly Ogle, KWTV, Channel 9, will serve as master of ceremonies. Tickets to the banquet are $125 for singles, $200 for couples and $500 for patron couples. Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice will present a required course for appraisers at Moore-Norman Vo-Tech Center on Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The workshop takes place in the Center's main campus, 4701 12th Ave. in Norman. Topics to be discussed include the ten standards, the Code of Ethics, comparisons to USPAP and case studies.

Instructing the course is Marion Kordic, past president and regional governor of the American Society of Appraisers. Tuition is $150, and the course is approved by the Oklahoma Appraisal Board and the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission for Continuing Education. The Oklahoma Office of Volunteerism will host individuals from across the state Nov. 10 in the 2nd Annual Conference on Volunteerism, "Emerging Issues of the 21st Century," at the Clarion Hotel. The conference includes special workshops to promote professionalism and offer specific skills to volunteer leaders, managers of volunteer programs in State agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporations and program administrators.
