The formation of a new natural gas marketing firm that plans to help small Oklahoma independent oil and gas producers "realize better prices and better planning for future production" was announced Friday.

Oklahoma City-based Jay Gas Marketing LLC, which began operation early last month with two employees, plans to have up to six employees by the end of its first year.

Services the company will provide include designing marketing programs for price enhancement, planning, engineering and financing of gathering lines and preparing concise and timely market information, according to Danny M. Sowell, chief executive officer of the new firm.

"Our projected sales for five years is right at $5 million," Sowell said.

The company, located at 6801 N. Broadway, should have seven or eight employees by then, he said.

Nine entities have ownership in Jay Gas Marketing including Sowell, Jay Petroleum Inc. and other independent operators and producers. "What makes us unique is the combination of producers and operators as owners and also my experience in national marketing," he said.

Sowell was director of marketing at Enogex Inc. of Oklahoma City for more than six years before becoming chief executive officer of Jay Gas Marketing. …
