Energy Futures Prices Lower Ahead of Inventory Report

Futures prices for crude oil, gasoline and heating oil finished lower Tuesday ahead of a weekly inventory report that was expected to show increased refinery production.

Crude oil prices fell moderately, despite the expectations for a drop in oil stockpiles. Light sweet crude for delivery in July fell 19 cents per barrel to $19.06.

Spot prices were reduced 25 cents per barrel Tuesday by Kerr-McGee Refining Corp., Sun Co., Koch Oil Co., Phillips 66 Co. and Total Petroleum Inc., lowering Oklahoma Sweet and West Texas Intermediate to $17.25 per barrel.

Kerr-McGee posted prices of $17.50 a barrel for Central Oklahoma Sweet and $15.90 a barrel for Oklahoma Sour. Sun, Koch and Total priced Oklahoma Sour at $15.40 a barrel.

In London on the International Petroleum Exchange, North Sea Brent Blend crude fell 21 cents per barrel to $17.89.

On the Nymex, unleaded gasoline for delivery next month fell 0.54 cents to 61.25 cents per gallon on the New York Mercantile Exchange. …
