STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Thomson Newspapers said Friday it will sell 29 of its daily newspapers, including one in Oklahoma, to complete its previously announced reorganization.

Denver-based Media News Inc. has agreed to purchase five of the dailies, four in California and The Evening Sun in Hanover, Pa., Thomson said.

The sales of the remainder of the newspapers will be handled by Dirks, Van Essen & Associates, a broker based in Santa Fe, N.M. The 29 newspapers represent about a third of Thomson's daily newspapers. Seven are in Pennsylvania and six are in Michigan. Two papers are being sold each in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Wisconsin, and one each in Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Oklahoma and Virginia. In Oklahoma, the Enid News and Eagle will be sold, the company said. The California dailies being sold to Media News are the Times- Standard in Eureka, the Pasadena Star-News, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune in West Covina and The Whittier Daily News in Whittier.
