Woman of Year Award Dinner Tickets on Sale

Tickets have gone on sale for The Journal Record's 15th annual Woman of the Year award presentation and dinner.

Barbara Robinson, author of And Still, I Cry, will be the speaker for the dinner at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Marriott Hotel, 3233 Northwest Expressway.

The award recognizes excellence among women business professionals in Oklahoma. Reservations are $250 for a table of eight or $35 per person. Checks can be mailed to The Journal Record, 222 N. Robinson Ave., Oklahoma City, 73102. The Journal Record Woman of the Year Award was inaugurated in 1981 to recognize the growing influence of women in the Oklahoma City business sector. Last year's Woman of the Year was Cynthia Kramer, senior vice president of Liberty Bank and Trust Co. The 1995 Woman Entrepreneur was Jo Anna Campbell, who heads her own trucking company. The Journal Record's annual Woman of the Year award, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 1996, has operated under various names over the years, including Corporate Woman and Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. In addition to this year's name change -- which reflects the growing significance of women in all types of business in Oklahoma -- the program has been expanded statewide for the first time. A new program publication, 50 Making a Difference, will also salute the 50 finalists for the award, to be presented at an Oct. 30 dinner at the Marriott Hotel. Express Personnel Services, Southwestern Bell Telephone, OG&E Electric Services and Working Women's Money University are major sponsors of the program. Robinson, who lives in Baltimore, is also a 1995 Women of Enterprise Award Winner, 1996 Maryland Women's Hall of Fame inductee, founder of the Minority Women Business Owners Association, a radio talk show host and a motivational speaker. She is president and owner of Strategies, Tactics and Results Associates Inc., known as STAR Associates. The human resources development training company is based in Baltimore. She also is founder and executive director of SelfPride Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides health care services and community living arrangements for developmentally disabled individuals. …
