Mercy Health Center Builds $1.5 Million Educational Facility
Mercy Health Center is building a $1.5 million educational center on the lower level of the McAuley Building of the hospital.
It will have 20,000 square feet and seating for 300 in the main room and a 200-seat back area.
Construction is expected to be completed by early winter. Both areas will be able to be divided into smaller classrooms. The center also will have a stage and kitchen. Mercy volunteers pledged more than $500,000 for the project, said Bruce Buchanan, chief executive officer for Mercy Health Center. ADG is the project architect and Soter Engineering is handling mechanical and electrical engineering. Cornforth Associates is the structural engineer. PMK of Dallas is the audio visual consultant. McBride opens practice Dr. Matthew A. McBride has opened a gastroenterology practice at 5701 N. Portland Ave., Suite 305. His hospital privileges include access to Deaconess Hospital. During a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, McBride specialized in advanced invasive endoscopy, including therapeutic pancreaticobiliary endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Tuohey named ethicist The Rev. John F. Tuohey has assumed the responsibilities of ethicist for Mercy Health System of Oklahoma. Tuohey will provide guidance in the understanding of principles, values and beliefs and integrate ethical considerations into strategic planning for Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid and Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore. He most recently served as associate professor of moral theology at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Staff additions Dr. Dustan Buckley, an internal medicine specialist, has joined the staff of Columbia Bethany Hospital. She served as the chief resident at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and specializes in patients 14 and older. Dr. Howard W. Sharf has joined Dr. Paul Miller and Orthopaedic Specialists Inc., 9020 E. Reno Ave. in Midwest City. Sharf was with the United States Army Medical Department. His most recent assignment was at Reynolds Army Community Hospital in Fort Sill were he was chief of the Department of Surgery.
