At the virtual office hours are flexible, every day is casual dress, and there is no boss lurking over employees' work stations.

Oklahoma City-based Concourse C Inc. has grown into a virtual office, coordinating the work of 11 employees scattered among six states and almost as many time zones.

The digital marketing services company keeps its offices at 2000 N. Classen Blvd., and its storefront at www.education-world.com. The company launched the Education World Web page last May to provide educators free resources on the Internet. Educators can use the site to develop lesson plans and curriculum and to keep informed on topics such as attention deficit disorder in the classroom. "We're a very virtual company," said director of development Jon Koerber. Concourse C has five employees in Oklahoma City. It incorporated two months ago after growing out of American Fidelity Internet Services. The Education World site is sponsored by American Fidelity Education Services, a division of American Fidelity Assurance Co. "The name is new but we've been around a little while," Koerber said. "You won't find us in the phone book yet." American Fidelity Education Services president Jack Grace said the site is meant to provide teachers information they can apply in their everyday work. Gary Hopkins, eight-year editor of Weekly Reader magazine, became Education World's editor in chief in May. He coordinates and edits original articles on the site from his home in Connecticut. Webmaster Patricia Carnabuci works from her home in Kihei, Hawaii. Education World's research analyst also lives in Hawaii. The company's sales staff works from New York, California and Missouri. "E-mail is the best thing in the world for us, and it's actually a great way to communicate," Koerber said. The sales staff operates self-sufficiently in their own regions. …
