Reno Air Replaces CEO Robert Reding

RENO, Nev. -- Reno Air replaced its chief executive as its fourth quarter loss almost doubled because of problems with a new reservations system and higher maintenance costs.

The regional airline said President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Reding resigned, and it named former United Airlines executive Joseph O'Gorman to be chairman, president and chief executive.

The airline's board concluded that new leadership was needed "because of recent developments in the airline industry, including more aggressive competition from the largest airlines," Lee Hydeman, Reno's former chairman, said in a statement. Hydeman has assumed the post of chairman of the board's executive committee, composed of outside directors. O'Gorman recently retired as executive vice president at United Airlines, the main unit of UAL Corp. The veteran of 30 years in the airline industry also was president and chief executive at Aloha Airlines and the former Frontier Airlines. …
