OKLAHOMA CITY (JR) -- Bill May, who has been a columnist and
reporter for The Journal Record since 1987, has been awarded the
Clarus Award by the Oklahoma City chapter of the Public Relations
Society of America.
The award honors a member of the local media who has displayed
accuracy, depth and objectivity in reporting throughout the year.
"Practitioners throughout the city remark on Bill's high level of
professionalism and dedication to clarity," said Pamela Gutel, PRSA
"He exemplifies what the Clarus Award is all about."
The award was presented at a banquet to honor achievements of area
public relations practioners and to present the Clarus Award.
Earlier this year, May was named editor of TransPort One, a
semimonthly publication of the Journal Record Publishing Co.
Oklahoma's multi-modal transportation system.
Wendy Clothier, Web developer and technical communicator with
Applied Intelligence Group, was named the Outstanding Young
Professional at the banquet.
"Wendy is a model for all young professionals," said Keli Pirtle
Tarp, president of the PRSA chapter.
"She is a creative, dedicated worker and a tireless volunteer."
Dow Dozier was named the Paul E. Dannelly, APR Harmony Award
Winner. Dozier retired in April as Kerr-McGee's director of
"Dow has distinguished himself as a leader in the public relations
profession, not only in Oklahoma City, but nationally," Tarp said.
"He gives countless hours to the PRSA Oklahoma City Chapter and
regularly enriches the lives of public relations students as a
and through frequent talks to university classes."
The chapter also presented its annual Upper Case awards in 17
categories. The 76 entries were judged by the PRSA Pennsylvania
Upper Case Award winners were:

of Merit for Taco Mayo 20th Anniversary Event Program to Hays &
