Premier to Spend $14 Million in Texas

Premier Parks plans to spend $14 million in improvements at a theme park in Arlington, Texas.

The investment announced Wednesday is part of Premier's planned $200 million in systemwide park upgrades announced last week.

The Oklahoma City-based company bought Six Flags earlier this year, making it the world's largest regional theme park company with 31 parks in the United States and Europe. Of the total planned investment, $14 million will go into Six Flags over Texas, the original Six Flags park, located in Arlington. "This is the first of a multiyear commitment by Premier Parks to elevate Six Flags Over Texas into a new class of theme park entertainment," said Steve Calloway, vice president and general manager of Six Flags Over Texas. The park will have a new Batman-themed area called Gotham City, which will include Batman the Ride -- a high-tech roller coaster, with ski-lift style chairs suspended from the track above. The ride reaches 50 miles per hour and a height of 109 feet 6 inches. …
