The spring fashion collection of St. John will be presented at a luncheon March 4 at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. A benefit for the Baptist Community Clinic at Olivet Baptist Church, 1201 NW 10th St., the showing is sponsored by Integris Baptist Medical Center Foundation and Balliet's. Reservations are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling the Foundation at 949-3433. Corporate sponsorships are $1,000.

The Baptist Clinic is open three nights a month to provide free care to some 130 people each night. Services offered include medical exams, dental services, immunizations, eye exams, medication refills and education classes as well as some diagnostic procedures.

Past luncheons have provided funds for a computer system for the clinic to assist in dispensing medications for the Southwest Breast Cancer Prevention Trials and for critical care weigh beds for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Norma Harris is chairman of the luncheon and fashion show arrangements. Want a good read? Michael Wallis, an author often noted for his books about Oklahoma, will receive the Arrell Gibson Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 10th annual Oklahoma Book Awards dinner on March 13 at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center. Oklahoma Center for the Book is sponsoring this celebration of Oklahoma books and authors. It will include cocktails and autographing of books by various Oklahoma authors at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are $45 per person and tables of eight are available for $325. Winners in various categories also will be honored and the finalists will join Wallis before and after dinner for signing their books. Wallis' books have been nominated for the National Book Award and on three occasions for the Pulitzer Prize. Other awards he has won include the 1994 Lynn Riggs Award from Rogers State College. He was the first inductee into the Oklahoma Route 66 Hall of Fame and in 1996 was inducted into the Oklahoma Professional Writers Hall of Fame. Tribute to Cathy On March 30, the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole will sponsor a Tribute to Cathy Keating banquet in the ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel, Warren Place, in Tulsa. George Nigh, former Oklahoma governor, will be master of ceremonies and participating in the program will be former Jane Jayroe Gamble and Shawntel Smith, both former Miss Americas; Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys, Burns Hargis and Mike Turpen. (Other speakers will be offering tributes to the state's First Lady during the evening but they will be a surprise to the honoree. Tickets are $100 per person with tables of 10 available at $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000. A VIP reception will precede the dinner, which will benefit expansion projects at the museum. The Children's Museum is widely recognized for its hands-on educational exhibits for children ages 3 through 12. Since opening in 1993, the museum has had well over 400,000 visitors who have come from every state and 59 countries.
