Rockfield Management Turns Offices into Hotel

Rockfield Management will convert the former Ackerman Building at 5704 Mosteller Drive into a 51-room extended stay hotel designed to serve corporate travelers.

The $2.4 million project will transform the 11,930-square-foot building located off the Northwest Expressway, near Founders Tower, into a 23,226-square-foot Quality Inn. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately toward a January opening, said Rockfield President Ed Lynn.

All of the Ackerman Building's existing interior walls, ceilings, plumbing and mechanical systems have already been removed, he said. The exterior brick veneer and second floor outside walls also will be removed, leaving only its steel and concrete frame.

"A third floor will be added as well as additions to all four sides of the building," noted Lynn.

With rooms expected to range from $74 to $139 per night, property amenities will consist of a corporate business center, exercise room and complimentary gourmet continental breakfast.

All rooms in the Quality Inn at Founders Tower will be non- smoking, with two telephone lines with high-speed Internet access, coffee makers, blowdryers and ceiling fans. Some rooms also will come equipped with a microwave and refrigerator.

The hotel is a franchise of Choice Hotel International, the world's second-largest hotel franchiser. Lynn said the company has developed 676 properties, with another 107 under development.

Oklahoma City-based Bockus Payne Associates is the architect for the hotel. Its project contractor was not named.

Lynn said the decision to renovate the building into a new hotel is market driven. …
