Phillips' Board OKs Management Changes

BARTLESVILLE (JR) -- The board of directors of Phillips Petroleum has approved several management changes, effective Aug. 1.

Jim Gallogly, vice president of olefins and polyolefins, was promoted to senior vice president of chemicals/plastics, replacing Jack Howe, who has elected to retire after 31 years of service.

John Lowe, manager of strategic growth projects, was promoted to the newly created position of vice president, planning and strategic transactions.

In addition, Phillips said Raj Gupta, vice president of strategic planning since 1997, will continue as vice president of the company and will be placed on special assignment reporting to Mulva.

Gallogly will report to B.Z. Parker, executive vice president -- downstream.

Gallogly, 46, was named vice president of olefins and polyolefins in 1998 after heading up the company's plastics division since 1997. Prior to that, he held various positions in the company's exploration and production (E&P) division, including vice president of North America E&P and manager of the Ekofisk II redevelopment in the Norwegian North Sea. He joined Phillips in 1980 as an attorney. A native of Newfoundland, Canada, he holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Colorado and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. …
