Small Business Owners around the Country Contribute to Creating Powerful New Web Site

OKLAHOMA CITY (JR) -- Bank One has designed a new Web site focused on owner-managed businesses.

Design of the Web site was based on opinions of more than 3,000 business owners, managers of companies serving small businesses and small business experts surveyed by Bank One, said John R. Taylor, senior vice president and market manager for Bank One.

Their wide-ranging input led the bank to create the Web site at www.bankone.com/business. "Most sites are designed from the company's point of view, not the customer's," said Taylor, who manages Bank One's Business Banking Group for Oklahoma. "We're building the kind of Web site that businesses told us they need."

In Bank One's research, owners asked for more help in managing and growing their companies. "They told us the ideal Web site would free up more of their time from administrative tasks, and help them improve financial performance by making better business decisions," he said.

At the same time, businesses asked for financial services that make better use of the Internet's capability. "We heard many comments about creating a virtual banking relationship that would make the Internet more personal," Taylor said "And owners said they wanted superior online services -- cash management, for example."

Bank One partnered with providers of Web-delivered software applications to address these needs in the new site. The first "release" of this Web site features four powerful services that combine financial and non-financial capabilities.

"My Company Profile" integrates customer information, financial tools, estimate business valuation, data from 900 industries, and what Taylor describes as "the most complete benchmarking capability available," in order to provide business owners with detailed answers about how to improve their financial performance. …
