BVA-Advanced Surgical Eye Care has a new executive director: Sandy Boles. She joined BVA after serving as national director of customer services for a Canadian laser vision correction firm as well as two other ophthalmology firms, Prime Vision Health and Vision America. She also owns and operates her own management and marketing firm, Eye to Eye Communications.

Michael S. Gilmore, professor of microbiology and immunology and a vice president of research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, has joined the new scientific advisory board to the Dallas biopharmaceutical company Cumbre.

Christian Pilgrim has joined the dental practice of Charles L. Goodwin in south Oklahoma City. The May graduate of the Oklahoma College of Dentistry will specialize in comprehensive, cosmetic and family dentistry.

The Board of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has named nurse Tammy Powell the new director of the Oklahoma Youth Center in Norman. She had previously served as the director of performance improvement at Norman Regional Hospital.


Deaconess Outreach Services has opened a laboratory draw station at Deaconess at Bethany. The station collects laboratory samples ordered by physicians to be tested at the Deaconess Hospital lab. It serves as a collection site for Diagnostic Labs of Oklahoma, LabCorp and Lab One.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has signed a contract to obtain women's reproductive health services from the Massachusetts consultant firm HealthMetrics Partners. The firm will study two clinical sites in Tulsa, one in Altus and the Variety Health Centers site in Oklahoma City.

In other actions, the department warns not to expect first shipments of influenza vaccine until next month. …
