UniFirst Breaks Ground on Laundry Facility in Oklahoma City

UniFirst, a work attire and textile service company with operations in the United States, Canada and Europe, broke ground Thursday on a 72,000-square-foot industrial laundry facility east of downtown Oklahoma City.

The Massachusetts-based company has operations in Oklahoma City, Broken Arrow and Enid.

Based on increased business in recent years, company officials said they began considering a dedicated Oklahoma City laundry facility about two years ago.

The current Oklahoma City office handles local operations and sales, but all of the laundry is sent to the facility in Broken Arrow.

Tracy Caine, UniFirst Oklahoma City branch manager, said the company has been running eight truckloads of laundry back and forth from Oklahoma City to Tulsa each week.

"Our business has doubled in the last several years," Caine said. "We've just grown to a size it makes more sense financially to build a plant such as this."

The building will sit on 4.3 acres east of Martin Luther King Avenue and north of Reno Avenue. …
