(BC-Hydro-Rates)

Premier Christy Clark calls it "common sense", but N-D-P energy critic John Horgan calls it "crass and cynical".

They're both taking about the Liberal government's decision to order the B-C Utilities Commission to slash planned B-C Hydro rate hikes from 30 to 17 per cent over three years.

Clark says she doesn't agree with the need for a 30 per cent increase, saying she wants to hold to her promise of keeping rates as low as possible.

Horgan is accusing the Liberals of focusing on short-term political gain, asking if they're so confident they have things under control, why don't they allow the utilities commission to hold public hearings on Hydro rates. (The Canadian Press)

Bass told the inquiry the R-C-M-P believed there were three serial killers operating in the province at the time -- in Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and in northern B-C. (The Canadian Press)

The body of Chassidy Charlie was found in her home by her mother in late January of last year.

The R-C-M-P say a charge of second degree murder has been laid against a 17-year-old boy, who is also a resident of the Burns Lake area.

Police say the suspect knew Charlie but they won't be releasing his name because of his age. …
