Salary cap for public sector bosses

TORONTO -- Ontario's cash-strapped Liberal government is moving to freeze wages for CEO's and senior executives at hospitals, universities and right across the broader public sector. Finance Minister Dwight Duncan will use legislation to put a $418,000 a year cap on salaries for top public sector executives, but won't roll back pay for the 150 people who already make more than that. MPP wants tougher law to prevent gas-and-dash incidents

TORONTO -- Liberal MPP Mike Colle introduced a private member's bill Thursday in an effort to curb gas-and-dash incidents following the death of a Toronto gas attendant. Jayesh Prajapati, 44, died Saturday night after a motorist filled up an SUV with $112 worth of gas and left the Shell station without paying, hitting the attendant with the vehicle.
