Taiwan Hot Spring Fine-Cuisine Carnival Kicks Off

As the lower temperatures of autumn sink in, tasting local delicacies while sinking yourself into hot springs may be your best refuge from the cold.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people visit the island just to enjoy Taiwan's majestic landscapes and taste delicious local cuisine. This year, to promote the "Best Hot Springs in Taiwan" ([...]) and to boost the tourism industry, various city and county authorities are collaborating with the Tourism Bureau to host the 2012 Taiwan Hot Spring Fine-Cuisine Carnival ([...]).

During the carnival, which will be held from Oct. 20, 2012 to Jan. 31, 2013, the Tourism Bureau will coordinate with local resorts and restaurants to integrate Taiwan's hot springs, cuisine and tourist hotspots into international, tourist-friendly packages, providing you as well as your friends and family with the best insights, tips, discount offers and other useful information.

Opening Ceremony

As this year marks the first time that the Nantou County Government is collaborating with the Tourism Bureau to host the 2012 Nantou Hot Spring Festival ([...]), the two organizers will hold an opening ceremony and many other promotional activities at the county's hot spring district of Dongpu ([...]) on Oct. 20.

To encourage participation, local restaurants will offer free millet mochi, millet wine and roasted suckling pig so that visitors can taste indigenous food.

Nantou County Magistrate Lee Chao-ching ([...]) stated, "Located at the base of Jade Mountain, Dongpu has the world's top hot springs, beautiful scenery, delicious food, nice temperature, and kind locals. The place not only offers a wide variety of hot springs but also starry night skies, verdant mountains and clean brooks. Nothing can be comparable to Nantou County's natural beauty and its distinct local culture."
