TORONTO -- A union representing many Ontario high school teachers is stepping up job action in its labour battle with the government. The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation is instructing teachers in a legal strike position to take job action starting Nov. 7.

Hundreds on hand for Lincoln Alexander service

HAMILTON -- Hundreds of people lined the streets Friday to say goodbye to former Ontario lieutenant-governor Lincoln Alexander ahead of a rare provincial state funeral. Town of Wawa declares state of emergency

WAWA -- Provincial police say several residents are cut off and are warning motorists to stay off roads in the Wawa area unless absolutely necessary after heavy rain overnight washed out the Trans-Canada Highway. Police say Highway 17 at Wawa is closed in both directions as a result of high water levels that eroded the road, and the northern Ontario town remains under a state of emergency.

TORONTO -- The Art Gallery of Ontario says Toronto fire officials have determined air in the building wasn't responsible for making a number of schoolchildren ill this morning. The AGO says in a statement that paramedics were called after the children became ill at the "Frida & Diego" exhibition space at the Toronto facility. …
