Zhu Jing Yi: Erlin Science Park to Continue Building until Final Verdict

The China Post news staff--The Chairman of the National Science Council (NSC), Zhu Jing Yi ([...]) said yesterday that the development of Erlin Science Park (ESP) will continue as scheduled until the judicial procedure was over.

Chu made the above statement when the Education and Cultural Committee of the Legislative Yuan examined the NSC's 2012 policy direction and budget yesterday. At the same time legislators from the opposition parties protested outside the conference hall.

Legislators Chang Show Foong ([...]), Tien Chiu-Chin ([...]), Liu Chien Kuo ([...]), Lin Chia Lung ([...]) and Lin Shu Fen ([...]) held a press conference yesterday with the CEO of Citizen of the Earth ([...]), Liao Ben Quan ([...]). They requested the NSC stop building the ESP as the Taipei High Administrative Court already canceled the Central Taiwan Science Park 4th stage development permit.

Liu said the NSC applied environmental assessment standards designed for industrial parks on the science parks. Liu said this method gave businesses in the parks discounts on land tax. …
