Dickson helps Roughnecks rally past Swarm

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Curtis Dickson scored two late short-handed goals to help the Calgary Roughnecks outslug the Minnesota Swarm 17-16 on Saturday.

Roughnecks forward Scott Ranger scored six goals while teammate Shawn Evans had two goals and nine assists.

Dickson finished with three goals, Dane Dobbie had three goals and two assists, Jeff Shatter scored twice with three assists and a single by Nolan Heavenor rounded out Calgary's (5-3) scoring.

Minnesota (2-4) was led by hat tricks from Ryan Benesch and David Earl. Shayne Jackson and Kiel Matisz had two goals each, and Greg Downing, Tyler Hass, Andrew Watt, Jordan MacIntosh, Corbyn Tao and Joel Henry added singles.

The Roughnecks led 9-5 at halftime thanks to five first-half goals by Ranger and seven assists by Evans. Benesch scored twice in the first 30 minutes to keep the Swarm in it.

Minnesota stormed back in the third quarter with a pair of goals by both Henry and Earl to tie the game at 13-13 entering the fourth. …
