CLARKSVILLE, Mo. _ Across the Midwest, a week of heavy rain and late-season snow has raised the threat of flooding, but experienced towns up and down the Mississippi have been successful in holding back the water. But in this town of just a few hundred, the river view is so pristine and the cost of a floodwall is so high, residents are taking their chances. That could come at a cost later this week, when floodwaters are expected to surge. AP Photos: a selection of staff and member photos is available from the weekend. Photos will watch areas south of St. Louis for photos along the Mississippi. The Grand Rapids Press is watching flooding along the Grand River. Contributions from areas that are flooding are welcomed.
