OHL Roundup: Barrie defeats Niagara 6-2


BARRIE, Ont. - Andreas Athanasiou scored four times as the Barrie Colts downed the visiting Niagara IceDogs 6-2 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Athanasiou opened the scoring for the Colts (23-17-3), who extended their win streak to three games, and then added three more in a span of 5:36 in the second period to make it 5-0.

Jospeh Blandisi and Zach Hall also scored for Barrie while Brendan Lemieux and Michael Webster each had two assists.

Eric Ming and Cody Caron both scored on the third period for the IceDogs (15-23-6), who lost for the first time in four contests.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 24 saves for the Colts. Blake Richard stopped 31-of-37 shots for Niagara.



ERIE, Pa. -- Justin Nichols stopped all 25 shots he faced as Guelph blanked the Otters for its fifth win in a row.

Ryan Horvat scored the eventual winner for the Storm (34-8-3) at 1:11 of the second period, moving his club to within one point of the Otters for top spot tin the OHL.

Erie (35-8-2) captain Connor Brown had his five-game point streak halted in the loss.

Oscar Dansk turned away 18-of-19 shots for the Otters, who lost in regulation for the first time in seven outings.


67's 2 BULLS 1

BELLEVILLE, Ont. -- Philippe Trudeau stopped 46-of-47 shots as Ottawa ended a three-game skid by slipping past the Bulls.

Ryan Van Stralen and Jacob Middleton gave the 67's (15-24-4) a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

David Tomasek brought Belleville (13-27-4) within a goal at 4:21 of the third period.

Charlie Graham kicked out 25-of-27 shots for the Bulls.



PETERBOROUGH, Ont. -- Anthony Stefano scored twice and Michael Clarke had a goal and two assists as the Petes toppled Sarnia.

Eric Cornel, Jonatan Tanus and Hunter Garlent each had a goal and an assist for Peterborough (19-20-4), Greg Betzold scored once and Nelson Armstrong had three assists. …
