Premier asks auditor to look into Bluenose II


HALIFAX -- The rebuilding of the Bluenose II, now two years overdue and well over budget, has become such a "boondoggle" that Nova Scotia's auditor general needs to investigate it, the premier said Thursday.Stephen McNeil said his Liberal government submitted a letter Thursday asking for an audit to be completed some time during the 2014-15 fiscal year. Committee to review Newfoundland info law

Nova Scotia mill's Crown land request denied


HALIFAX -- The Nova Scotia government says it has denied requests from Northern Pulp and Paper for more access to Crown land and financial assistance.A spokeswoman for Premier Stephen McNeil says the Pictou County mill had asked to harvest an additional 500,000 green metric tonnes of fibre from Crown land.
