CALGARY - Calgary police say it appears thieves targeted the owner of a small business who was stabbed to death for the bag of cash he was carrying.

Masqood Ahmed and a female employee were attacked Wednesday night as they left the neighbourhood grocery store he owned, out of which he also operated a money transfer business.

The 55-year-old was taking his night deposit, a bag with about $70,000 in cash, to the bank.

Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm says two suspects are being sought: a pair of black males in their 20s, one about five-foot-10 with a muscular build and long hair, and the other with a medium to heavy build and short hair.

Chisholm says police do have video from a nearby surveillance camera and believe the suspects were driving an older, dark coloured, two-door Toyota Solora.

Friends say Ahmed was a husband and a father of four who came to Calgary from Pakistan 15 years ago.

Abdul Quadeer, a family friend, remembers Ahmed as a very friendly guy. …
