TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The former owner of a local professional baseball team who is dubbed the father of Taiwan professional baseball has decided to raise NT$500 million to help build a Taiwanese baseball hall of fame in the Greater Taipei region.

Hung Teng-sheng ([...]), founder of the Brother Elephants baseball team, has promised to help raise the money in a year or two so as to acquire a piece of land to build a permanent complex to house the Taiwan Baseball Hall of Fame, the Taiwan Baseball Hall of Fame Association ([...]) told local media yesterday.

Peter Huang ([...]), head of the association, said once the money is raised, the association hopes that the complex will be constructed in three to five years.

According to Huang, the association is looking forward to acquiring a 16,500-square-meter plot of land to build the complex.

Aside from the Baseball Hall of Fame, the complex is also scheduled to house an indoor and an outdoor baseball stadium.

He also urged the Taiwan government and private sector as well as baseball lovers to donate funds to contribute to the ultimate construction of the complex to honor legendary local baseballers. …
