HUDSON BAY, Sask. - Three hunters have been rescued after being stranded in the woods in east-central Saskatchewan.

The three Yorkton men, all in their 30s, had only minor injuries after RCMP search teams, Saskatchewan environment officers and a Canadian Armed Forces plane were called in.

RCMP received a report at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday that the trio were stranded.

The men were moose hunting north of Prairie River, in the Hudson Bay area, with two quads and an amphibious all-terrain vehicle.

Mounties say they became stranded after unsuccessfully attempting to cross a swamp.

The hunters texted family members, stating they were wet, unable to start a fire and needed help.

Mounties from Hudson Bay responded alongside Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management officers and found the abandoned quads, but were unable to get past the swamp. …
