NEW GLASGOW RESIDENT FINDS BRAD NAIL IN POTATO

There's been another case of potato tampering reported in Nova Scotia after a rash of incidents across Atlantic Canada earlier this fall.

Nova Scotia RCMP are investigating after a shopper in New Glasgow found a nail embedded in a potato in a bag of spuds purchased last week from a Sobeys grocery store.

RCMP said the object appears to be a brad nail, which are typically used in nail guns.

There were several cases last September of metal objects being found in potatoes in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador, with most coming from a farm in Prince Edward Island.

ELECTRONIC MARIJUANA JOINTS FOUND IN NEW BRUNSWICK DRUG SEIZURE

New Brunswick RCMP say they found e-joints in a drug seizure last month -- the first time Mounties in the province have found marijuana in that form.

Police said the electronic marijuana vapour cigarettes were discovered in a drug bust when they searched a vehicle near Havelock on Oct. 25.

Tests have now confirmed they are e-joints, which Cpl. Martin Hachey said are becoming increasingly popular because they are odourless.

A 39-year-old man who was driving the vehicle has been charged with three counts of possession of controlled substances for the purposes of trafficking and three counts of trafficking controlled substances.

Police say at least four people have been arrested.
