Nation to Donate US$100,000 to Assist Developing Countries on WTO Laws

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan has committed to donating US$100,000 to the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL) to help less developed countries with WTO dispute settlement issues, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) official said on Tuesday.

Kay Lin ([...]), deputy director-general of MOFA's Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, said Tuesday at a regular news briefing that the donation is meant to help the WTO's developing and less-developed member countries on all issues relating to WTO law.

According to its website, the ACWL, based in Geneva near the headquarters of the WTO, gives free legal advice and training on WTO law and provides support in WTO dispute settlement proceedings at discounted rates. …
