TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A suspect surnamed Hung ([...]), who is believed to be responsible for a murder nine years ago, was recently arrested in New Taipei City, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB, [...]) has announced.

Hung is listed as the chief suspect in the cold case of the murder of a 78-year-old woman, surnamed Huang ([...]), who was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a rural area of southern Yunlin County on Jan. 14, 2006.

Police had been unable to locate the suspect for nearly a decade. At the request of Huang's family, the CIB reopened the case in the hope of uncovering a suspect. Chen Heng-cheng ([...]), a deputy division chief of the CIB, was assigned responsibility for the cold case four years ago.

During an investigation into a drug case earlier this year, one of the suspects involved claimed he knew someone who had confessed responsibility for Huang's death. …
