TAIPEI, Taiwan -- For the first time in 2016, the Water Resources Agency (WRA, [...]) carried out artificial rainmaking operations Friday morning at Shihmen Reservoir ([...]) to lift water levels higher.

As of 5 p.m. Friday, Shihmen Reservoir's water level was 237.86 meters, or 71.69 percent of capacity, according to WRA figures.

The water supply indicator for Shihmen Reservoir has flashed "green," which signals that water supplies are tight and that water resource schedules need to be adjusted.

The WRA launched cloud-seeding efforts last December due to insufficient rainfall. However, weather conditions have weakened the effect of the cloud-seeding, the WRA said.

Thunderstorms in Greater Taoyuan brought some precipitation to Shihmen Reservoir last week. …
