Goforth murder trial continues in Regina

REGINA - The trial of a Saskatchewan couple in the death of a four-year-old girl has heard the child was so malnourished she was just skin and bones.

Caregivers Kevin and Tammy Goforth face charges of second-degree murder and causing bodily harm to a two-year-old girl in 2012.

Dr. Abdulhafid Ali Essalah testified the four-year-old was severely dehydrated, emaciated and had multiple bruising and skin abrasions when she was treated in Regina's general hospital.

An agreed statement of facts says the girl died a few days later of her injuries after suffering cardiac arrest.

Court has heard the Goforths fell under a specific class of care-giver that doesn't have legal status with the Saskatchewan government, and there were no required checks on the girls after they were placed in their care. …
