TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The new Cabinet is set to be sworn in today, reshuffling familiar faces who have said that they have a responsibility to "hold down the fort."

Simon Chang ([...]), formerly the vice premier, is set to be sworn in as premier at 9 a.m. Monday at the Presidential Office before attending a handover ceremony at the Executive Yuan.

Chang will lead a slightly reshuffled Cabinet until May 20.

He said that in the 100 days remaining of President Ma Ying-jeou's administration, his team intended to do "everything necessary to hold down the fort."

The incoming Cabinet would continue reviewing cases and "apply appropriate opinions," he said.

Chang said that the Cabinet would determine, on a case by case basis, whether drafts should be submitted to the new Legislative Yuan or deferred to the Tsai Ing-wen administration for handling after May 20. …
