Heavyweight Rivas to face Washington

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Montreal-based Oscar (Kaboom) Rivas will fight former football player Gerald Washington on Feb. 27 in a battle of undefeated heavyweights at the Honda Center in Anaheim, promoters announced Wednesday.

It should be the toughest test yet for Rivas (18-0), a Colombia native who is looking to climb the rankings.

Washington (16-0-1) is coming off a draw in October with Amir Mansour.

"I know that he is a very tough, strong fighter," Rivas said of Washington in a release. "I will be prepared to come out victorious and stay undefeated as I head towards my goal of becoming a world champion."

It will be only the second pro fight outside of Quebec for Rivas, who stopped Jason Pettaway in one round in June in Shelton, Wash. …
