Accused killer's mom says his paranoia got worse

RED DEER, Alta. - The mother of an Edmonton man accused of killing his girlfriend says her son was paranoid and heard voices.

Mark Lindsay, who is 29, is charged with second-degree murder, offering an indignity to a body and obstruction in the death of 31-year-old Dana Turner in August 2011.

Lindsay's mother testified Thursday that her son started showing signs of paranoia in 2006 and that it got worse over the years.

She said Lindsay told her in March 2011 that there was a plot to kill him because he heard it being broadcast on his neighbours' TV.

Lindsay, who is the son of former Edmonton police chief John Lindsay, sobbed softly in the prisoner's box and wiped tears from his eyes while his mother testified. …
