OTTAWA - The dollars are still being counted, but it looks as though donations towards easing the humanitarian crisis created by the Syrian civil war are falling far short of the amount the government was willing to match and well below amounts raised for other relief efforts.

Here is a look at the response to the Syrian crisis and comparable ones in the past, by the numbers.

-- $100 million: Maximum amount the government said it would match in private donations to the Syrian Relief Fund made between Sept. 12, 2015, and Feb. 29, 2015.

-- $12.2 million: Amount that had been raised for the fund prior to the Liberal government extending the original end-of-2015 deadline.
