Asselin named top player in CIS men's hockey

HALIFAX - Guillaume Asselin, a high-scoring forward at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres, was named the top player in Canadian University men's hockey Wednesday night.

The third-year business administration student from Quebec City led the country in goals (27), points (47) and game-winning goals (six) in 28 league games. The five-foot-11, 195-pound forward becomes just the third Patriotes player to capture the Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy since it was first presented in 1970.

"Guillaume is fully deserving of this honour," said UQTR head coach Marc-Etienne Hubert. "He is a passionate individual who invested a lot of efforts this year both on and off the ice, and his hard work has paid off.

"His consistency was a big part of his success this season. …
