Saint Mary's upsets UQTR in quarter-finals

HALIFAX - Anthony Repaci scored twice as the host Saint Mary's Huskies upset the No. 1 ranked UQTR Patriotes 3-2 in quarter-final action on Friday night at the CIS men's hockey championship.

Ben Duffy added the eventual winner in the third for the Huskies, who were ranked No. 8 entering the University Cup.

"For a freshman, he (Repaci) certainly held his own quite well. He scored big goals for us," said Saint Mary's head coach Trevor Steinburg.

Jeremy Beaudry, on the power play, and Guillaume Asselin supplied the offence for UQTR, which went 7-0 in the conference playoffs.

Cole Cheveldave made 27 saves for the win in net as Sebastien Auger kicked out 30 shots in defeat.

The Huskies will face rival University of New Brunswick in one of Saturday's semifinals after the Varsity Reds beat the Western Mustangs 5-1 earlier in the day. …
