QMJHL Roundup: Cape Breton takes Game 1

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Michael Joly scored three times as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles beat the host Saint John Sea Dogs 4-1 on Thursday in Game 1 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League second-round playoff matchup.

Joly's first goal came at 8:15 of the second period to make it 2-0 for No. 7 Cape Breton. With his team ahead 2-1 in the third, Joly struck two more times on the power play to put the game out of reach.

Pierre-Luc Dubois opened the scoring with a power-play goal for the Screaming Eagles, who got a 25-save outing from Alexandre Belanger.

Samuel Dove-McFalls put the third-seeded Sea Dogs on the board in the second. Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 29-of-33 shots in a losing cause.

Cape Breton went 3 for 6 on the power play while Saint John failed to score on five chances with the man advantage. …
