OHL Roundup: Barrie takes Game 1 against North Bay

BARRIE, Ont. - Andrew Mangiapane scored twice in the first period and the Barrie Colts went on to defeat the visiting North Bay Battalion 5-2 on Thursday to open up their Ontario Hockey League second-round playoff series.

Josh Carrick also had a pair of goals for the Colts while Mangiapane also picked up an assist on Justin Scott's empty netter.

Regular-season leading scorer Kevin Labanc tacked on three assists and is tied with Kingston's Michael Dal Colle for the OHL playoff scoring lead with 15 points in eight games.

Steve Harland and Kyle Wood scored for the Battalion and Brett McKenzie picked up an assist on both goals.

Barrie's Mackenzie Blackwood made 32 saves for the win as James Smith kicked out 25-of-29 shots for North Bay. …
